Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? On the coast of Maine.

What are three words to describe your style? Feminine, Vibrant, Layered

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? Early preppy chic! OMG. Floral pink and green wallpaper, eyelet curtains, and a brass bed. I’ve since done away with Laura Ashley.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? A DeAngelis sofa that has been recovered multiple times and still looks great! If you buy quality upholstery, it really does last.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Tony Duquette

No room is complete without something vintage.

People think of me as girly, but I am really a tomboy.

Things you omit from:

·      A flower arrangement  Too many colors.

·      An hors d’oeuvre platter Deviled Eggs. Gross.

·      A bar cabinet Margarita mix, all you need are fresh limes.

A song for:

·      Dinner at home Miles Davis.

·      Working at your desk Jerry Garcia Band.

·      Going for a run  I am allergic to running but I do hike! Ben Harper.

Biggest Vice? Candy! I don’t discriminate and rarely hesitate other than with options involving raisins.

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Vintage jewelry. It’s an obsession and I enjoy the search almost as much as the purchase.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Yes, I wear a lot of pattern and bold color. I’m all about jewel tones.

Who is your star crush? Brad Pitt, especially the 90’s iteration.

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it?  A palette based in Brown.

What design book do you find yourself going back to again and again? Any catalogue from Christies or Sotheby’s as they are such incredible furniture resources.

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for?  Being timeless and ethereal.
