Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? In old Chelsea, London.

What are three words to describe your style?

·      Simple

·      Sophisticated

·      Timeless

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? I remember my bedroom being a cozy little nest surrounded by fluffy toys. Pink flower wallpaper added a touch of charm. My bed was a vintage brass bed with delicate curves.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? An antique English armoire. I loved the dark wood which would neutralize my more contemporary space. It felt expensive at the time but I still love it.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be?
Halston and Paul Rudolph

No room is complete without greenery, books, and a scented candle.

People think of me as an extravert, but I am really an introvert, deep thinker, and home body.

Things you omit from

·      A flower arrangement: Tight rose arrangements in bright colors with Baby’s Breath

·      An hors d’oeuvre platter: Food that is too big to fit in one bite and drops onto the floor!

·      A bar cabinet: Plastic bottles!!!

A song for

·      Dinner at home: Hotel Costes lounge music

·      Working at your desk: No music I need to concentrate!

·      Going for a run: Any song with a good beat that gets me moving. Maybe a bit of DJ, Black Coffee.

 Biggest Vice? Biting my nails!

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? A vintage Louis Vuitton trunk from Bentleys Antiques London. @bentleyslondon. www.bentleyslondon.com

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Mostly. I gravitate towards simple and classic but sometimes I take risks.

Who is your star crush? Tom Ford

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it?
Use pattern on pattern in bold bright colors like Kit Kemp.

What design book do you find yourself going back to again and again? Ralph Lauren, A Way of Living and Liaigre

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? A fresh sense of style, creating homes that are beautiful, thoughtful and chic!
