If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? The Cotswolds in England
What are three words to describe your style?
1. Inviting
2. Timeless
3. Organic
Tell us about your childhood bedroom? I remember spending hours in the Laura Ashley showroom with my mom choosing my entire room scheme. We went with a pink and white cabana striped wallpaper with a floral border and matching floral curtains. Fond memories!
What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? A live edge American Walnut dining table with brass legs. At the time I was living in a studio apartment but I wanted a table large enough to host friends and family for years to come. It has traveled with me to my home in the Catskills where it sits in the heart of the home next to a wood burning stove, a favorite place to gather.
In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Parish-Hadley
No room is complete without: Meaningful artwork and accessories
People think of me as having endless energy, but I am really someone who needs a lot of rest and relaxation to function at my best.
Things you omit from:
1. A flower arrangement: Filler greenery
2. An hors d’oeuvre platter: Anything with an unexpected pit
3. A bar cabinet: Artificial mixers
A song for:
1. Dinner at home: Moondance - Van Morrison
2. Working at your desk: Spotify’s “the new retro” playlist
3. Going for a run: Shake it Off - Taylor Swift
Biggest Vice? Browsing homes on Zillow for hours, just for fun!
If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Vintage fabrics and ceramics on Ebay
Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? I own a lot of dresses and shirts with block printed florals, a motif which I love to incorporate into my designs.
Who is your star crush? Robert Redford in Out of Africa
What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it? The minimalistic look, I can appreciate the restraint but I can’t live without color and pattern!
If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be? I would grab a photo album from my childhood in England, I get a lot of inspiration from the English countryside where I was born.
For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? Inspiring happiness and promoting well-being.
