Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? London. I have fond memories of my college days there.

What are three words to describe your style?
1. Clean
2. Curated
3. Collected

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? Ralph Lauren red, blue, and yellow plaid on the bedding, along with denim spread throughout. Pops of nautical red were a must.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house?  I bought a sculpture from Karl Springer at the Albert Hadley Christie’s sale after he passed; it’s still a cherished one.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Albert Hadley for his fusion on modern and traditional designs.

No room is complete without a little bit of black.

People think of me as extroverted but I am really introverted.

Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement: Baby’s Breath

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Brie (just because I hate it)

  • A bar cabinet: Bad Champagne

A song for:

  • Dinner at home: Norah Jones – Don’t Know Why

  • Working at your desk: Dolly Parton – 9 to 5

  • Going for a run: Lady Gaga – Edge of Glory

Biggest Vice? Shopping

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Another Birkin

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Depends on the day, but when most people see me, I would say yes, similar color palettes, modern shapes, but my clothes would have less pattern.

Who is your star crush? Spanish Tennis Player Carlos Alvarez

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it?
Ruffles on drapes.

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be? The first Parish Hadley book.

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? Being broad.
