Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

What are three words to describe your style?

1. Tailored
2. Textured
3. Timeless

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? My mom is also an interior designer and she did exactly what she wanted to do. Looking back, it was wonderful with a four poster bed, an antique armoire and really felt more mature than a teen room.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? A Spanish antique oak chest from the George Cameron Nash showroom…I nearly had a panic attack afterwards over the looming credit card bill…but I still love it, so it was a good move.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Darryl Carter, his spaces feel great and I love the mix of old and new…with tons of neutrals.

No room is complete without great art.

People think of me as very girly, but I am really a total tomboy.

Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement: A fruit salad moment (one of everything)…I like it simple

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Salted nuts

  • A bar cabinet: The more the merrier

A song for:

  • Dinner at home: Slowly By- Cactus Lee

  • Working at your desk: Apocalypse- Cigarettes After Sex

  • Going for a run: Nice For What- Drake

Biggest Vice? Shopping online and Tex Mex

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? I’ve been digging deep on summer outfits for a friends 40th in St. Barths. Just bought this to wear for lunch by the pool.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? I dress very monochromatic and neutral.

Who is your star crush? Lucien Laviscount I met him in Paris and he’s even more adorable in person.

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it?
Ask for everyone’s opinions… sometimes a project suffers from too many cooks in the kitchen… when we have the clients best friend, tile installer, and trainer weighing in on a decision, it can become an impossible project.

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be?
Ray Booth Evocative Interiors

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? An elevated way to live beautifully with collected items and an active family.
