Shea McGee
If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? Alys Beach, Florida
What are three words to describe your style?
1. Layered
2. Classic
3. Approachable
Tell us about your childhood bedroom? My childhood bedroom was very early 2000s with buttery yellow walls, red gingham pelmet boxes and a slipcovered bed adorned with floral pillows and ruffled edges.
What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? When we were newly married, the first real piece of furniture we purchased together that wasn’t thrifted or from a big box store was a linen chesterfield sofa. I styled it with Schumacher pillows we sewed ourselves (featuring the pattern only on the front side because it was all we could afford). This was the beginning of discovering my passion for interiors and designer textiles.
In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Billy Baldwin for his mix of modern and traditional. I also admire that he created rooms that felt comfortable and luxurious all at the same time.
No room is complete without at least one vintage or antique piece.
People think of me as a TV personality, but I am really quite introverted.
