Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? Mexico.

What are three words to describe your style? Collected, Layered, Assembled over time

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? I actually had (almost) free reign over the design.....Proud to say it was very on trend for 1983. Red, grey and black.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house?  Georg Jensen acorn flatware.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be?  Jacques Grange or Jeremiah (my husband).

No room is complete without books.

People think of me as a tv decorator, but I am really more serious.

 Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement: Single species only please

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Seafood

  • A bar cabinet: Rum

A song for:

  • Jeremiah is in charge of our house music, I would just play Indigo Girls or Sinéad O’Connor all day and make everyone sad

  • Going for a run - Beyonce

Biggest Vice?  Online shopping, I need someone to change my RealReal and 1st dibs passwords.

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy?  Dishes or fancy luggage.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how?  I don’t wear a lot of pattern or color and never have a label showing.

Who is your star crush? Goldie Hawn.

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it?  Chintz and floral.

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for?  Elegance and livability
