Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? Stockholm archipelago

What are three words to describe your style?

·      Balanced

·      Nuanced

·      Personal

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? (a sentence or two would be great here) My childhood bedroom was constantly changing! My mother really indulged my curiosity of expressing myself through the way I decorated my bedroom and I am so grateful for that. One of my favorite bedroom schemes involved blush pink walls and a light pink gingham comforter, which I still have to this day!

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? The first investment piece for my house was a pair of antique Gustavian console tables

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Renzo Mongiardino

No room is complete without a personal, nostalgic item

People think of me as ________, but I am really _____________ What other people think about me is none of my business!

Things you omit from:

·      A flower arrangement  - hydrangeas (sorry, hydrangea lovers!)

·      An hors d’oeuvre platter – any type of cheese that has an overpowering smell

·      A bar cabinet – flavored liquor

A song for:

·      Dinner at home – Gronlandic Edit by Of Montreal

·      Working at your desk – French Navy by Camera Obscura

·      Going for a run – Elephant by Tame Impala

Biggest Vice? Taking a CBD gummy and going online shopping

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? (if the product is something specific please include a link) An antique Swedish secretary – this one is pretty perfect: (don’t blame me, blame the ambien!)

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Yes absolutely. Tight color palette, rooted in traditional designs but with playful proportions and a touch of Scandi sensibility

Who is your star crush? Jon Hamm

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it?  Never say never!

What design book do you find yourself going back to again and again? The Swedish Country House by Susanna Scherman
