Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? An old farmhouse in Upstate New York with a barn for vintage finds

What are three words to describe your style?

1. Collected

2. Relaxed

3. Dynamic

Tell us about your childhood bedroom. I lived in a few different houses as a child but there were some staples that went with me from house to house – My bed had a combo of Ralph Lauren tartan and teddy bear strip sheets with a denim comforter. I was also obsessed with history so I had a framed portrait of Abraham Lincoln above my dresser accompanied by a model of the titanic.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? My husband and I started with art knowing we’d always have a place for that. Our first big art purchase was a large ink on paper drawing by William Brickel.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Jacques Grange

No room is complete without something antique or vintage

People think of me as outgoing, but I am really a homebody

Things you omit from:

1.     A flower arrangement  Carnations

2.     An hors d’oeuvre platter Deviled Eggs

3.     A bar cabinet Fernet-Branca

A song for:

1.     Dinner at home Tezeta by Mulatu Astatke (creates a vibe)

2.     Working at your desk Right now it’s Sabrina Carpenter’s latest album

3.     Going for a run Ease Your Mind by Darius & Devin Tracy

Biggest Vice? Tortilla chips

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? (if the product is something specific please include a link.) Ha… I would probably end up buying a bunch of vitamins marketed to me on Instagram and vintage designer table lighters. Like this one

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? My personal style is edited and modern for the most part. I think I bring that perspective into all of my design project whether traditional or modern or something in between.

Who is your star crush? Jacob Elordi

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it? A traditional blue and white room

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be? Jean-Michael Frank by Leopold Diego Sanchez

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? Work that has a point of view and stands the test of time
