Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

Casa Marcelo

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? A remote coastal area in Spain or Greece! The people are lovely and the food is delicious.

What are three words to describe your style?

1. Effortless

2. Eclectic

3. Elevated

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? I shared a room most of my childhood, but when I was a teen I got my own room. I painted the walls magenta with black 2” borders, and black furniture. Posters all across the top border of celebrities and models ripped out of magazines.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? A mid-century dresser that I bought off of etsy, still have it to this day.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be? Kelly Wearstler or Forbes and Masters.

No room is complete without: styling–decor, books, throws, pillows and the true essence of a client.

People think of me as brave, but I am really just delusionally optimistic.

Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement: leaves and filler plants

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: pigs in a blanket

  • A bar cabinet: displayed liquor bottles

A song for:

  • Dinner at home: Fall In - Esperanza Spalding

  • Working at your desk: Call me Mother, RuPaul

  • Going for a run: Chloe + Halle, Ungodly Hour

 Biggest Vice? Luxury Travel

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? A 10-day trip in Tanzania or something.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Yes–elevated and comfortable.

Who is your star crush? You’re gonna get me in trouble! But John Boyega

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it? Matching drapes to wallpaper. Love the look, classic, but not for my clients.

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be?
Iconic Home by June Reeese

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? Timeless Design + being philanthropic
