Welcome

“As a resident of the world of design since birth, I’d like to take some time to celebrate some of the people and things in that world that I admire. I hope you come along for the ride. And, as my name has really taken a beating these last couple of years, -thank you Mr. Bezos, - feel free to think of me here by my nickname: Lex. And, please also enjoy this completely un-recognizable and years old headshot.” - Alexa Hampton

If you could have a second home anywhere, where would you live? Paris

What are three words to describe your style?

1. Contemporary
2. Sophisticated
3. Refined

Tell us about your childhood bedroom? A custom built platform bed with a cubby hole for my dolls and toys. Extremely tidy.

What’s the first investment piece you ever bought for your house? A Heywood Wakefield desk and an Alighiero Boetti painting that proved to be a very good investment.

In the history of design, if you could hire any designer other than yourself, who would it be?
I am currently working with my dear friend Sean Johnson from Sean Johnson Interior Design and am loving every minute of it!

No room is complete without art.

People think of me as serious, but I am really playful.

Things you omit from:

  • A flower arrangement: Baby’s Breath

  • An hors d’oeuvre platter: Salami

  • A bar cabinet: Nothing!!!

A song for:

  • Dinner at home: Edith Piaf “La Vie en Rose”

  • Working at your desk: Glenn Gould, Goldberg Variations

  • Going for a run: Carly Simon You’re So Vain

Biggest Vice? My current vice is jewelry.

If you were on an Ambien high and internet shopping, what would you buy? Shoes.

Do your clothes reflect your design sensibility, if so, how? Well thought out and elegant.

Who is your star crush? Liam Neeson

What is the thing you would never do on a project, but don’t detest when you see others do it? Match the art to the décor.

If there were a fire, and you could only keep one design book, what would it be? Claude Berri Meets Leo Castelli. A book about the late French film director’s art collection.

For posterity, what would you like your work to be known for? Helping people build collections that reflect who they are.
